Kronos Time Clocks at Cement Company
As Project Leader, installed or upgraded Kronos Client/Server software
and time clocks at various cement plants and ready-mix companies.
This role included: project planning, progress reporting, user training,
hardware and software installation, parallel testing, switching to live,
post-implementation follow-up, documentation, and working with external
suppliers and other project groups (such as Payroll and SAP).
- Participated in the upgrade from Kronos DOS and VAX software
to Client/Server and Windows Network software at a subsidiary company
operating ready-mix plants at about 12 locations in southern California.
- Lead the on-site team installing Kronos at a cement plant in Iowa.
Kronos was installed on time and with very few problems.
- Lead the on-site team installing an interface between SAP
and Kronos at a cement plant in Indiana. Helped to resolve some serious technical issues and
advanced this project to the start of parallel testing.
Gas Volumes Accounting
- Reduced accounting costs and improved control of operations
by managing development of a $1.2 million mainframe Gas Volumes
System, which accounts for all natural gas and products produced
by a major Canadian energy company.
- Took over in mid project and brought it to implementation and
smooth operation.
- Supervised up to 13 programmers, analysts and clerks.
Financial Systems Development Supervisor
- Assured operation of all mainframe financial computer programs
for a major Canadian energy company.
- Coordinated implementation of first stage of
major new financial accounting project.
- Improved service to client department by reorganizing workload
and priorities in the group, delegating work and hiring new
staff to meet needs.
- Supervised staff of 9.
Minicomputer Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems
- Managed software development for minicomputer data acquisition
systems at a major Canadian energy company.
- Implemented contracts and coordinated outside suppliers for
2 major projects.
- Directed work of up to 7 programmers.
Minicomputer Control Systems
Managed projects or coordinated development of minicomputer
control systems supplied to clients of 2 small companies, by doing
design and cost estimates, work scheduling, assigning staff to projects,
and selecting and training new employees.
Land Records
- Enabled all departments to make better use of a major energy
company's Land Records information by managing initial development
of a modernized system.
- Directed work of 5 analysts and programmers. Selected student and
contract staff.
Business System Development Coordinator
- Monitored all business systems development at a major Canadian
energy company.
- Planned priorities and staff levels.
- Prepared and presented quarterly reviews to top management.
Personal Computer Deployment
Improved staff productivity throughout the Head Office of a major
Canadian energy company, by managing use of personal computers,
including applications, acquisition, installation, maintenance,
training staff and setting policies.
